QSNCC Extends “Krungthep Dee Tor Jai” Event, Inviting Bangkok Residents to Revitalize with “Dhamma in the Park” On the first Saturday of Every Month in 2024

28 Feb 2024

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), is continuing its highly popular "Krungthep Dee Tor Jai" event series this year with the introduction of the "Dhamma in the Park" activity. This enriching endeavor invites attendees to partake in morning Dhamma sessions led by esteemed Thai monks and speakers, who will impart wisdom in line with Buddhist tenets on the first Saturday of every month throughout 2024.

The overarching goal of the initiative is to foster high-quality life for Bangkokians in accordance with the teachings of the Buddha while encouraging them to embrace public spaces in cultivating their physical and mental well-being. Commencing this Saturday on March 2, the inaugural session will feature Phra Suthivachirapathipan (Veeraphon Veeranano), Vice President of the Propagation Department and head of the Office of Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimonmangkalaram Ratchaworamahawihan, who will expound on the topic "The Balance of Dhamma, The Balance of Life" at the Chamchuri tree yard in Benjakitti Park. Admission is free.

Surapol Utintu, Chief Executive Officer of N.C.C. Management and Development Co., Ltd., the operator of QSNCC, expressed enthusiasm for the continuation of this initiative, which was launched last year. “Building upon the positive response to the earlier 'Krungthep Dee Tor Jai' event, we are committed to fostering a vibrant urban culture where Bangkokians can fully embrace public spaces like Benjakitti Park,”

Surapol said. “The 'Dhamma in the Park' activity aligns with QSNCC's broader vision of being more than just a venue for exercise as an avid promoter of active lifestyles and vibrant communities, which combine physical health with spirituality and personal enrichment. 'Dhamma in the Park' is a good example of this as it not only promotes physical wellness but also rejuvenates mental health. We aspire to cultivate a thriving community where individuals can find succor and inspiration.”

Surapol went on to add that “participants are invited to utilize the versatile spaces at QSNCC for gatherings, discussions, and Dhamma-related activities within our retail zone, which offers a myriad of services, including restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, bookstores, spas, and co-working spaces. Through its many offerings our retail zone provides a conducive environment for holistic well-being."

The 'Dharma in the Park' activity, featuring renowned preachers from Thailand, will kick off on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. The inaugural session will be led by Phra Suthivachirapathipan (Veeraphon Veeranano), who is Dhamma preacher of the Dhamma Arom Dee Network of the Department of Religious Affairs at the Ministry of Culture. Held at the Chamchuri tree area in Benjakitti Park, this activity will promote spiritual enrichment and community bonding. Mats and chairs will be provided to ensure comfort for all attendees.
