04 Dec 2023

Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) is set to welcome more than 3,000 medical specialists and academics in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology from 60 countries for a conference, scheduled from 6th to 9th December 2023, during the “Asian Pacific Digestive Week 2023 (APDW 2023).”

The largest gastroenterology conference in the Asia-Pacific region, APDW 2023   will be an international gathering of top specialists who present their views, share their knowledge, and discuss the latest advances in gastroenterology and hepatology. The conference will serve as an opportunity for Thai medical specialists to showcase their expertise on the international stage and also to drive the country’s health sector and economy.

The Asian Pacific Digestive Week 2023 (APDW 2023) is the region’s digestive and gastroenterology conference which will be held this year under the theme “Optimizing Strategies for Maximizing Outcomes.” The conference provides an opportunity for doctors and medical specialists to join and exchange scientific information on treating gastrointestinal diseases as well as other ailments.  To join, by registration with or without submitting their researches and innovations through two formats – oral and poster presentations.

Held annually in countries from around Asia and the Pacific, APDW is hosting for the second time in Thailand which once hosted in 2012. Gastroenterology is  an increasingly important field in Thailand.

“According to the information from National Cancer Institute’s Thai Cancer Registry in 2022, the majority of Thai people having cancers were liver, cholangiocarcinoma, followed by colon and rectal cancers,” said Prof. Somchai Leelakusolvong, President of the Gastroenterological Association of Thailand (GAT) and Congress president of the Asia Pacific Digestive Week (APDW 2023).

“This indicates that gastrointestinal health problems should be widely recognized and public should have easier access to diagnosis and treatments.  This conference is a good opportunity for the government to see the progress in research and innovation in gastroenterology and hepatology and take part in supporting the development and sustainability of medical advancements in this critical field.”

“Thailand is honored to, once again, to host of the APDW this year. We are ready to do this as we have been well prepared including the expertise of the committees and medical specialists in the field of digestive system; a strong international medical network; and our readiness to organize a conference both academic meetings and research result presentation,” the professor said.

“Other factors include the charms of Thailand and the excellence of the venue, which can accommodate such an important conference on an international scale. We hope that this conference will impress all its 3,000 participants worldwide who will spend time travelling all around the country, which will also in turn help boost our economy.”

Prof. Somchai explains that “QSNCC as the congress venue is one of the best because of its location in central business district surrounded by hotels and accommodations.  It also allows easy access to all modes of transportation: car, BTS and MRT, facilitating delegates to travel around Bangkok. Moreover, QSNCC offers spacious conference rooms with parking lots which is suitable for large scale events.”

Surapol Utintu, Chief Executive Officer of N.C.C. Management and Development Co., Ltd., the operator of QSNCC, said, “We are honored that the QSNCC has been trusted to represent Thailand as a venue for this international conference and to welcome all attendees from around the world. We sincerely hope that our facilities and our staffs will impress everyone and showcase our potential as a platform for international events. This will bring success to the event and enhance the reputation for our country.”
